Vision to Execution
BrandMEE Is Now Avad Shamar Creative: Why the Vision Outgrew the Name
Fifteen years in, the studio's name described a fraction of the work. Here is what changed, what didn't, and what the new name is asking of us.
For fifteen years the studio was called BrandMEE. The name was honest when it was chosen: the assignment was branding, and the client was usually one person with a vision and a business card that undersold it. The work was good, and the work grew.
What grew fastest was the conversation. A founder would come in for an identity and leave with a question about positioning. A church would ask for a website and, two meetings in, admit that the real problem was that nobody owned communications. A nonprofit wanted a campaign and needed an operating rhythm. Every one of those conversations was still, technically, a branding conversation. None of them fit under the word.
What a name is for
A name is a promise about scope. When the promise is smaller than the work, two things happen. Prospects who need the larger work never call, because the sign on the door says something narrower. And clients who do call keep being surprised that you can help with the next thing, which is flattering and also a sign that the brand is doing less than the practice.
We tell clients this constantly. It took a while to say it to ourselves.
What Avad Shamar means
The name comes from two Hebrew verbs in Genesis 2:15: avad, to work, cultivate, and serve; and shamar, to guard, keep, and steward. Together they describe the job we were already doing: work what has been entrusted to you, and protect it as it grows. That is the posture behind every engagement here, whether the client shares the conviction or not. It is not a gate. It is the reason the deliverables come with documentation and training instead of a handoff and a wave.
Avad Shamar Creative is the creative strategy division of Avad Shamar Co. The parent company is the house that holds the conviction; the Creative division is the operating business you are reading about. Nothing about that structure changes who picks up the phone.
What didn't change
The founder. The standard. The portfolio. Every BrandMEE client relationship, file, and agreement carried forward intact, and the old addresses still deliver. The work shown on this site was built across both chapters, and each case says which one. Where the work predates the new name, it carries the line Work completed under BrandMEE, now Avad Shamar Creative, because history belongs to the entity that made it and should be dated accurately.
What did change
Three things, and they are the reason the transition was worth the trouble.
Strategy comes first, on paper, every time. The Strategic Intensive is now the front door: a two-week engagement that produces a written direction the client owns, whatever they decide next. We stopped letting design start before the decision was made, because execution is an expensive way to keep thinking.
The scope matches the conversation. Five practices, one through-line: strategy, brands, websites, marketing, and the systems that keep all of it running. A client can start anywhere and never has to re-explain the vision to a new vendor at the next stage.
Systems are part of the offer. The most durable work of the last two years has been operational: request engines, communications calendars a volunteer can run, automation in tools the team already pays for, applied AI used carefully. That work used to happen quietly at the end of brand projects. Now it has a name and a page.
What the new name asks of us
A bigger promise is a bigger obligation. "We build what vision requires" is the sentence the whole site has to prove, and it can only be proved one engagement at a time. So the proof standard is simple: every claim on this site survives the question "show me." No invented metrics, no borrowed logos, no testimonials that were never given.
If you knew us as BrandMEE, thank you for the fifteen years. If you are meeting us for the first time, start with the work, and if something there looks like a version of what you are facing, tell us about it.
Keep going.
